Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitchers 4/23

 

Class AAA Round Rock Express: The Express are coming off a 6-5 loss last night to the New Orleans Zephyrs (Miami Marlins). In the conclusion of this series Randy Wells be on the mound for the Express. In his 3 previous starts Wells has had some issues. Going 5 innings exactly in all of his starts this season he has a 0-3 record and a 6.6 ERA. He is averaging nearly 4 runs in 5 innings of work and over a hit an inning. The veteran joined the Rangers organization in the off season and it would be good for him to get his season turned around.

Class AA Frisco RoughRiders: After another poor start by Cody Buckel the ‘Riders dropped yesterday’s game 5-1 to San Antonio. To try and turn things around in game 2 of the series is Neil Ramirez. In his 4^th start of the season he is putting his 1-0 record and 1.88 ERA on the line. In 14.1 innings of work so far he has only allowed 4 hits, 3 runs and given 9 walks. He has limited opposing batters to a .089 batting average and chalked up 18 strikeouts.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: The Pelicans won game one of the series against the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) in a nail bitter as a 9^th inning rally was stopped. In his 4^th start of the year LHP Victor Payano is on the mound again. He brings a 1-1 record and a 1.88 ERA after 14.1 innings of work. Payano has allowed only 7 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks. At the same time he has recorded 22 strikeouts and held the opposition to a collective batting average of .143.

Class A Hickory Crawdads: Hickory is opening up a road series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Miami Marlins). The ‘Dads swept the Charleston Riverdogs and now sport a record of 11-7 for the season. Sam Stafford is getting the start for the Crawdads in tonight’s match. He is bringing his 0-2 record for the season into play with the hopes to improve that and his 7.50 ERA. He has been limited to 6 innings pitched so far this season.

Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitchers April 22

Class AAA Round Rock Express: Tonight is game 3 of a 4 game set against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Miami Marlins). The Express have won the first two games of the set which has pushed their standings to 11-7 for the season and are in 1^st for their division. LHP Brad Mills is on the mound for the Express tonight. This will be his 4^th start of the season and is showing to be a nice off season pick up. H is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA. In 19 innings pitched he has allowed 11 runs and 6 runs; while at the same time racking up 14 strike outs and keeping hitters baffled at a .167 ERA.

Class AA Frisco RoughRiders.: The ‘Riders are beginning a set against the San Antonia Missions (San Diego Padres). Coming off a split set against the Corpus Christi Hooks and are 10-6 on the year now. On the bump tonight is RHP Cody Buckel who is having a rough start to the season and is currently nursing a 13.50 ERA and 0-2 record thanks to it. In his last start Buckel once again only got to 1.2 innings pitched on the heels of 1 hit, and 5 walks and had 6 unearned runs score. Through 3 starts and 6.0 innings pitched 15 runs have scored.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans:  The Pelicans open a set against the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles).  Myrtle Beach just concluded a 3-1 series against the Carolina Mudcats pushing the Pelicans record to a 9-7 record. For the Pelicans on the mound is Luke Jackson for his 4^th start of the season. He is 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA and has 17 strikeouts for his record. Compared to 14 hits, 8 walks and 3 earned runs Jackson is doing well against Advanced Class A batters.

Class AAA Round Rock Express: Game 2 of the set against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros). Game 1 was an 8-6 Express win. RHP Randy Wells is going for his 3^rd start of the year. The off season pick up from the Cubs organization has had two 5 innings pitched games. His ERA is sitting at 6.30 for the season and had allowed a .293 batting average.  The Express are 8-5 on the season and tied for first in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division.

Class AA Friso RoughRiders.: Fresh off of a sweep of the North West Arkansas Naturals; the ‘Riders open a series against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros). Tonight on the bump will be RHP Neil Ramirez.  In his last start he was able to bounce back in a big way against the Arkansas Travelers.  The shutout 5.2 innings e pitched pushed his ERA to 1.93 for the season. He tallied 5 strikeouts and gave up 2 hits and a 2 walks. The Riders are 8-4 on the season and in first place in the Texas League North Division.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: The Pelicans are looking to sweep the Winston-Salem Dash (Chicago White Sox).  LHP Victor Payano is on the mound tonight for the Pelicans. During his last start on April 12^th against Salem Payano had a solid with performance over 4.0 innings that saw 3 hits and 5 strikeouts. Unfortunately one of the hits was a homerun and ended with 2 earned runs.  The Pelicans are 6-5 for the season and are in first place in the Carolina League North Division.

Class A Hickory Crawdads: The Crawdads are going for the series sweep over the Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies). Last night featured an offensive display that led to 11 runs. Tonight will see if the Crawdads are going to go with LHP Sam Stafford on the mound again after 2 very rough starts. His last outing was on April 12^th against the Kannapolis Intimidators. He lasted .2 of the first inning and he allowed 1 earned run and 4 walks. He is sitting on an ERA of 10.80 for the season. The Crawdads are 6-7 and are 2.0 games out of first in the South Atlantic League Northern Division.

Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitchers 4/16

Class AAA Round Rock Express:  Tonight the Express open a series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros) in a road series. LHP Sam Mills looks to continue his dominant ways this season. His April 11^th 7 inning shutout of the Iowa Cubs dropped his 2 game ERA to 0.69; as well as garnering him the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week award. In his 13 innings pitched this season he has allowed 7 hits, 1 earned run and 2 walks.

Class AA Frisco RoughRiders.: The ‘Riders are going for the sweep of the North West Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals). Perhaps the shock of the season so far is the poor beginning that Cody Buckel is off to. After 2 starts, both of them against Arkansas, Buckle is saddled with a 18.69 ERA and has only gone 4.1 innings pitched. In that short time frame he has allowed 5 hits, 11 walks and 9 earned runs. Hopefully it will turn out that Arkansas is just his kryptonite and he can turn the season around soon.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: The Pelicans go for their 2^nd win against the Winston-Salem Dash (Chicago White Sox) after yesterday’s 2-0 shutout.  RHP Luke Jackson is on the mound for the Pelicans tonight.  In his last start was Aprill 11 against Lynchburg. He delivered a 5 inning shutout while tallying 7 strikeouts. His ERA for the year is at 2.00 going into his 3^rd start.

Class A Hickory Crawdads: Game 2 of the series against the Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies). Game 1 was a 6-3 for the Crawdads and featured some if the offense that was lacking in the Kannapolis series. Tonight Hickory will be sending RHP Connor Sadzeck to the mound. His last start was April 11 against Kannapolis and was a 5 inning gem.  In that game he allowed 3 hits, 1 earned run and 1 walk. This dropped his season ERA to 3.48.

Texas Rangers: Derek Holland will be on the mound against the Chicago Cubs as the Rangers invade Wrigley Field.

Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitchers 4/15

Class AAA Round Rock Express: In the final game of a 4 game set against the New Orleans Zephyers (Miami Marlines) the squad was in a day game. With Ross Wolf on the mound the Express lost 3-2 and fell to 7-5 on the season. Wolf pitched 6 good innings allowing 2 runs and 5 hits. Johan Yan and Evan meek came on in relief. The player of the game offensively was Greg Miclat who had 2 walks and 2 hits including a double and scored the only run for the Express.

Class AA Frisco RoughRiders: This will be game 2 of the series against the North West Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals). The ‘Riders were victorious by a score of 9-2 in the first game of the series. LHP Ryan Feierabend is going for his 3^rd start of the year. After 9 innings he has scattered 12 hits including a homerun. He has allowed 4 earned runs and a walk giving him an ERA of 4.00 for the season.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: The Pelicans lost the series and final game to the Salem Red Sox. The Pelicans are returning home to start a series against the Winston-Salem Das (Chicago White Sox. On the mound will be RHP Nicholas Martinez. His last start was a rough 4.1 innings against Salem where he earned the loss. In his 2 games this season he has allowed 6 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks and a homerun.

Class A Hickory Crawdads: After splitting a 4 game set with the Kannapolis Intimidators the Crawdads are on the to start a new series against the Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies). RHP pitching prospect C J Edwards is on the mound again tonight for Hickory. Through two starts he is 0-1 with a 2.89 ERA. In the 9.1 innings pitched this year he has allowed 3 earned runs, 3 walks and tallied 8 strikeouts.

Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitchers 4/12

Class AAA Round Rock Express: Yesterday the Express downed the Iowa Cubs 2-1 to win the series.  Tonight the Express open a series against the New Orleans Zephyrs.  For his second start of the year RHP Randy Wells will be on the mound. The former Cubs prospect went against Omaha on April 7^th. In 5 innings pitches he allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and 4 earned runs. His 7.20 ERA after the game was only ameliorated by his 5 strikeouts.

Class AA Frisco RoughRiders: In action yesterday the Riders dropped game one to Arkansas 6-3. In today’s game 2 of the series against the Arkansas Travelers (LA Angels) RHP Neil Ramirez is on the mound. He earned a no decision in his first start of the year on April 6^th against Arkansas. Ramirez went 3.2 innings pitched before being pulled. He allowed 1 hit and 2 earned runs as well as 4 walks. Yet he also had 6 strikeouts and sports an opponent’s batting average of .100.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: Yesterday the Pelicans beat the the Lynchburg Hillcats 2-0. The Pelicans will be starting a series against the Salem Red Sox (Boston Red Sox). LHP Victor Payano will be on for the second start of the year for him. His first start was a 5.1 inning peach against Wilmington on April 6^th. He allowed 3 walks and 2 hits and recorded 8 strikeouts. He is sporting a 0.00 ERA for now.

Class A Hickory Crawdads: The Crawdads won yesterday’s game against the Kannapolis Intimidators 6-1. Today is game 2 of the road series against Kannapolis (Chicago White Sox). On the hill for the Crawdads will be LHP Sam Stafford. His first start of the season was April 7 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He lasted only 2.2 innings in which he allowed 5 hits and 3 earned runs. He owns an ERA of 10.12 after that start and a hitters’ batting average of .385.

Texas Rangers Minor League Starting Pitchers 4/11

Class AAA Round Rock Express: This is the 4^th and final game of the series against the Iowa Cubs (Chicago Cubs). The series so far is 2-1 for Round Rock. LHP Brad Mills will make his second start of the year for the Express. In his first outing of the season against the Omaha Storm Chasers he had a good start to the year. In 6 innings pitched he scattered 5 hits and no walks. In allowing 1 earned run he tallied 2 strike outs.

Class AA Frisco RoughRiders.: Game 1 of the homer series against the Arkansas Travelers (Los Angeles Angels) this is the second series against the Travelers for the season. In his second start of the year RHP Cody Buckel is going again for the RoughRiders. His April 5^th start was not a good outing for Buckel who went only for 2.2 innings for Frisco. He allowed 5 hits and 7 earned runs as well as 5 walks against the same Arkansas Travelers.

Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: Game 3 of the road series against the Lynchburg Hillcats (Atlanta Braves) the series is tied at 1. RHP Luke Jackson is back on the mound tonight for the Pelicans. In his April 5^th start versus the Lynchburg Hillcats Jackson pitched 4.0 innings in his no-decision. He allowed 6 hits and 2 earned runs. He had 4 strikeouts in the outing and has a 4.50 era for the season.

Class A Hickory Crawdads:  Tonight starts the first road trip of the season against the Kannapolis Intimidators (Chicago White Sox).  For the second time this season RHP Connor Sadzeck will take the mound. His previous start was a no decision on April 6 versus the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He pitched 5.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks. With 3 earned runs and 3 strikeouts he currently owns an ERA of 5.06 and an opponent’s batting average of .222.
