Class AAA Round Rock Express: The Express are coming off a 6-5 loss last night to the New Orleans Zephyrs (Miami Marlins). In the conclusion of this series Randy Wells be on the mound for the Express. In his 3 previous starts Wells has had some issues. Going 5 innings exactly in all of his starts this season he has a 0-3 record and a 6.6 ERA. He is averaging nearly 4 runs in 5 innings of work and over a hit an inning. The veteran joined the Rangers organization in the off season and it would be good for him to get his season turned around.
Class AA Frisco RoughRiders: After another poor start by Cody Buckel the ‘Riders dropped yesterday’s game 5-1 to San Antonio. To try and turn things around in game 2 of the series is Neil Ramirez. In his 4th start of the season he is putting his 1-0 record and 1.88 ERA on the line. In 14.1 innings of work so far he has only allowed 4 hits, 3 runs and given 9 walks. He has limited opposing batters to a .089 batting average and chalked up 18 strikeouts.
Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach Pelicans: The Pelicans won game one of the series against the Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) in a nail bitter as a 9th inning rally was stopped. In his 4th start of the year LHP Victor Payano is on the mound again. He brings a 1-1 record and a 1.88 ERA after 14.1 innings of work. Payano has allowed only 7 hits, 3 runs and 4 walks. At the same time he has recorded 22 strikeouts and held the opposition to a collective batting average of .143.
Class A Hickory Crawdads: Hickory is opening up a road series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Miami Marlins). The ‘Dads swept the Charleston Riverdogs and now sport a record of 11-7 for the season. Sam Stafford is getting the start for the Crawdads in tonight’s match. He is bringing his 0-2 record for the season into play with the hopes to improve that and his 7.50 ERA. He has been limited to 6 innings pitched so far this season.
